“It was all part of God’s plan that I ended up at BCA.  Everything fell into place naturally, and many prayers were answered.  I love interacting with kids and faculty while sharing in their successes and/or failures.  BCA is a great place to be and I am proud/blessed to be a part of such a place.  Thanks to all who welcomed me with open arms and warm hearts.”

“God our Father loved us and by His kindness gave us everlasting encouragement and good hope.  Together with our Lord Jesus Christ, may He encourage and strengthen you to do and say everything that is good.”

Sue Cannariato

Dual Credit English

Susan Cannariato, a veteran of 45 years in public schools, teaching all levels of English, from remedial sixth grade,  regular, academic, honors, and Advanced Placement through college in several states (Lee College in Texas and Highlands College in Freeport, Illinois), has found a new home at Baytown Christian Academy and enjoys  the Christian and collegial atmosphere as a member of the BCA family.

Teaching dual credit English through Lee College for the past ten years, she tries to guide her students to writing, reading and learning at their personal best.  In her Composition classes, she works with students to take their basic  writing skills to a scholarly and academic level needed for success at the more rigorous college-level while being mindful that her students are still high schoolers. In Survey of English Literature, she encourages her students   to hear voices from the past speaking to them while also finding commonalities with their own daily lives, as well as   connections to their past readings here at BCA.

She loves hearing of the success of her former students whether they are loving parents, teachers (including one here  at BCA), doctors, lawyers, or, this year, an NFL quarterback coach. She looks for her Bulldogs to achieve their greatest  potential while remaining servants of our Lord.

When her counselor  asked her what she wanted to teach, she said math because she knew what it was like to not understand.  She graduated from the University of Houston Clear Lake with a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics as well as her  teacher certification.  Seven years later she decided to get her Masters in Education from the University of Houston.

She was a public school teacher for 10 years then took a 15-year hiatus from teaching while working for her husband. During the summer of 2019, she decided I wanted to teach again part-time and God led her to BCA.  Three weeks after arriving here she was diagnosed with breast cancer (she is now cancer-free).  "I tell everyone that I  would have never made it through my treatments without the staff's, students', and parents' prayer and  support. I have since decided to go back to school and work on my Masters of Mathematics from Sam Houston    State University."
