HS Math - Robert Himel

Mr. Himel joined BCA this year as a math teacher. He enjoyed twenty plus years in industry working in industrial engineering and management.  When “the free trade bill” went into effect, his  industry moved off shore, and he chose not to follow it.  He was given an opportunity to teach math with Crosby I.S.D., and his thought was to teach for a year or two so he could spend more time with his kids.  But after two years, he was hooked.  He really enjoyed working with the youngsters and helping them discover the magic of mathematics.  Prior to retirement, he was fortunate to have taught every math course in both middle and high school, was pre-AP and AP certified by the College Board, and had the privilege of running a high school math department. Teaching math turned out to be an excellent second career.

He retired from regular education 4 years ago, though he remained on staff with two colleges.  When offered a position here, he jumped at it.  He loves teaching in a wholesome, Christian environment and continuing to open the eyes of youngsters.
